Does it cost money to run the website?

Yes, most definitely. Some of the services we use to keep the site running include an Amazon Web Services EC2 instance and IBM Watson Bluemix Services.

What kind of infrastructure is being used?

The Apache Spark Streaming application that supports the data pipeline of the website runs on a Hadoop cluster with Yarn. We run on 12 executors in 4 executor cores with a total of 20 Gigs of memory.

Does every tweet about the election get collected and used?

Unfortuneately no. Because of API restrictions from IBM and Twitter we do not process every possible tweet on the election. However, this website should give an appropriate view of the situation.

Where are the site's images from?

The sites images are royalty free for commercial use images from pixabay

How are the charts made?

Charts are made using Google's Chart API
